SHAWNEE CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Tonight might have been the shortest city council meeting I’ve ever watched. No one spoke during Business from the Floor. For the Mayor’s Items, Mayor Sandifer thanked Public Works Director Doug Whitacre for his service to Shawnee as he is retiring. He also read resolutions for Fire Prevention Week and National Preparedness Month. For Miscellaneous Council Items, members congratulated City Business Liaison Steve Hawk on his retirement, applauded the grand reopening of Fire Stations 71 and 73, and appreciated the delegation from Erfurt this month. Additionally, Council Committee was canceled so there is no recap for that below.

Additionally, the Council considered the following:

• Passed consent agenda (unanimous)

• Approved 7 ordinances based on this year’s updates to the state Uniform Public Offense Code (unanimous)

• Approved extension of SEED agreement for Gilda’s Tapas Bar (6-1, Kemmling in dissent)

• Ratified semimonthly claims (unanimous)
